Sembrar con amor, cultivar con propósito.
Nurture with love, cultivate with purpose.
This is the heart of Semillita al Corazón, a space where children feel loved and cared for while they build their creativity, curiosity, and confidence in a safe, fun, and enriching environment.
Families often tell us our space feels less like a childcare center and more like an extension of their own home.
We are a mother-daughter team welcoming every family regardless of their background, faith, or home language.

Maestra Raquel
Founder & Director
Hi, I'm Raquel. My passion for children comes from my love of family and my desire to leave a legacy, and that passion led me to start Semillita al Corazón. I hold a degree in Theology, am Montessori trained, and am certified in Family Child Care. For me, Spanish immersion is about more than preserving language, it's about giving children a global perspective and a lasting connection to cultures beyond their own.
I believe every child is a unique seed, and my mission is to help each one grow up loved, confident, and full of good values.

Maestra Dámaris
Spanish Immersion Teacher
Hi, I'm Dámaris! I'm a licensed elementary and literacy educator with a degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and years of experience in immersion classrooms. I lead our Spanish immersion curriculum and focus on getting our kids ready for kindergarten, both academically and with the confidence that comes from speaking two languages.
I'm excited to welcome your family and watch your child grow with us.
Our hope is simple:
Children in our care grow up secure and happy, and carry that into their families and their community.
A Typical Day at Our St. Paul Daycare
At Semillita al Corazón, your child's day follows a steady rhythm, so they always know what's coming next and feel secure moving through it. Spanish is woven into everything we do, from morning songs to outdoor play, and each day blends structured learning with hands-on activities, music, and plenty of time to explore. Most of our children are with us for the full day, and we also welcome before- and after-school kids.
👋 7:30 a.m. — Arrival and free play, so children ease into the day at their own pace
🥣 8:30 a.m. — Breakfast together as a group
🎶 9:30 a.m. — Circle time, with songs and calendar routines in Spanish that set the tone for the day
🤸 10:00 a.m. — Structured or outdoor play, building vocabulary and social skills through games and movement
🎨 11:00 a.m. — A guided activity or project, hands-on learning built around the month's theme
🍽️ 12:00 p.m. — Lunch
😴 1:00 p.m. — Nap or quiet time
🍎 3:15 p.m. — Afternoon snack
⚽ 3:30 p.m. — Outdoor games and more active play
🚗 4:30 p.m. — Free play, with pickup through 5:00 p.m.
Because we care for a range of ages together, older children often take on small leadership roles, like helping a younger friend with a task, so everyone learns from playing alongside kids at different stages.

Before- and After-School Care
We primarily serve children with full day. However, we are typically able to offer a limited number of slots for children needing before and after school care. Morning care is from 7:30 a.m. until bus pickup, and afternoon care from bus drop-off until 5:00 p.m. After-school time is a chance for kids to unwind with a quick snack, get support with homework, and join in age-appropriate activities alongside their friends.

Family Childcare in a Professional Setting
Semillita al Corazón operates under a special home-based child care license. That license lets us run our program out of a full building rather than a private home. This means more indoor and outdoor space than a typical in-home program, plus secure building access.
We're located near Mounds Boulevard and I-94, close to Metro State University and less than 10 minutes from downtown Saint Paul.
We welcome children of all ages, from infants through school-age. We're happy to talk through the best fit for your family during a tour.
Weekly tuition is under $400 per week and includes meals.
For exact pricing based on your child's age and schedule, along with current openings, the next best step is to reach out and schedule a tour, so we can show you the space, get to know each other, and make sure we're a good fit.

Answers to Help You Move Forward
No problem. We start with a mix of English and Spanish so your child can follow along, then shift more fully into Spanish as they learn our routines and grow comfortable.
Raquel is Montessori trained, and we bring Montessori-inspired activities into our days, but we're not an exclusively Montessori program. Our approach blends play-based learning, Spanish immersion, and kindergarten-readiness skills.
Not exactly. We operate under a special home-based child care license, but that license allows us to run our program out of a full, dedicated building rather than a private home. That means a real, secure building with controlled access, a larger playground than you'd typically find at an in-home daycare, and space set up entirely for learning and play, with no need to share the classroom with someone's living room or kitchen.
Yes! We are licensed with the Department of Human Services, #1129609. We also actively participate in continuing education opportunities.
Not at all. Our program is rooted in universal values like love, patience, respect, and tenderness. Every family is welcome here, regardless of faith or background.
We care for children from 6 weeks through age 11, including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age kids for before- and after-school care.
Yes. Weekly tuition includes meals and snacks.
For everyone's safety, children need to stay home with a fever of 100°F or higher, vomiting or diarrhea (until 24 hours symptom-free), or symptoms of a contagious illness.
Our license limits how many children we can care for in each age group, so openings depend on age and timing. Join the waitlist and we'll reach out as soon as a spot opens that fits your child.

We’d love to nurture your child too
I started Semillita al Corazón with a simple mission: that every child who walks through our doors grows up feeling loved, safe, and sure of who they are. I believe every child is a seed, and what we plant in these early years becomes the roots they carry for a lifetime.
I'd love the chance to show you our space, meet your family, and see if we're the right fit for your child to grow. Schedule a tour, I can't wait to meet you.
